About Paola Subacchi Italian. Economist. Professor of International Economics and Chair, Global Policy Institute, Queen Mary University of London, Visiting professor at University of Bologna, author. Paola Subacchi is Professor of International Economics and Chair of the Advisory Board at the Global Policy Institute at Queen Mary University of London, and Adjunct Professor at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna. Previously, she was Director of International Economics Research at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) for over ten years. Professor Subacchi is also the founder and director of Essential Economics. She has written two books: The People’s Money: How China is building a global currency (Columbia University Press, 2016) and her latest: The Cost of Free Money (Yale University Press, 2020). An Italian national, she studied at Università Bocconi in Milan and at the University of Oxford. In 2016 she received the honour Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia.
